I stumbled on Zapier when looking for a way to automate pushing zendesk tasks into a team calendar. Zapier is to adults like Legoland is to kids. So many snazzy things to do! Zapier connects applications through zaps, zapping data from one piece of software to another. It’s incredibly easy to set up a zap, there’s a nice graphical interface that guides you through selecting your data source and where you want to zap to. In 6 minutes I had set-up a zap from Zendesk to my Gmail calendar, telling zapier to collect only the “tasks” not the “questions” from zendesk support tickets and push them into my calendar with a description and a due date.
I was supposed to stop there as my work was done however browsing through the Zapier catalogue really was like a sweetshop window. There are a huge amount of automations you can set up, I have an on-line shop running off WooCommerce, hey presto, there’s a Zap that will take those orders and create the invoices in Xero. That’s a brilliant time saver.
Other zaps that caught my eye that would be real time savers:
Zap Eventbrite attendees into a Google spreadsheet as they book places on-line – Event Managers can spend hours collating data, 1 zap and it’s in a spreadsheet
Zap Gmail attachments into Dropbox – how many of us archive our email and save attachments to the cloud? This zap will do it for you.
Zap Evernote into Asana tasks – I’m an avid Asana user and recommend Asana to clients wanting to make their teams more productive. Anything that automatically creates a task in Asana to save me having to do it is a winner for me.
Zapier – Costs
Considering the multitude of integrations it has, the cost is reasonable. The free version gives you 100 tasks a month with zaps running every 15 minutes. The $20 basic version would keep most of us auotmated with up to 3,000 tasks a month. Costs go all the way to $125 a month for really zappy enterprises.

With so many integrations at your fingertips at a very small cost, I would agree with the motto! Remember when this sort of integration cost businesses thousands?!
